President Mahama Declares Economic Recovery in 2026 State of the Nation Address
The President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has announced that Ghana’s economy is stabilising and returning to growth, declaring that “Ghana is back” and “Ghana is working again.”
Delivering the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament, the President emphasised that decisive fiscal discipline, reforms, and prudent economic management are beginning to yield measurable results despite earlier national challenges.
According to the President, his administration prioritised restoring order to public finances through spending controls, improved reporting of government liabilities, and auditing of prior financial commitments. These actions, he noted, are already producing “remarkable economic outcomes.”
He further assured citizens that Ghana is on a renewed path of growth and development under the government’s “Resetting Ghana” agenda, stressing that the country is now positioned for sustained acceleration and investor confidence.
The Address highlighted optimism ahead of Ghana’s 69th Independence Anniversary, with the President stating that the nation is rebuilding prosperity through responsible governance and inclusive growth policy.
